Cowboy Bebop: Space Serenade

Cowboy Bebop: Space Serenade is a 1–4 player deck-building game that turns Spike, Jet, Faye, and Ed into rival bounty hunters chasing criminals across the solar system. Players improve personal decks, spend fuel to travel between planets, investigate and fight wanted targets, and occasionally help one another when a particularly inconvenient bounty calls for it. The cooperation has limits. Everyone aboard the Bebop may need the same criminal caught, but only one player gets to finish the game with the best reputation.

The Cowboy Bebop license fits the structure unusually well. The crew works together just enough to feel like a crew, then immediately remembers that bounty money and professional pride are involved.

Each character has a different ability and travels physically around the solar system. Being in the same location can let bounty hunters make use of one another's abilities, so helping another player may be useful. It may also leave them perfectly positioned to claim the criminal you were planning to capture.

How the Game Works

Each player controls a member of the Bebop crew and begins with a personal starting deck. Cards generate the resources used to move, investigate, fight, purchase better cards, and interact with criminals.

Travel costs fuel, so the location of your character matters. Wanted criminals appear around the solar system with requirements that may call for investigation, combat, or both. Capturing them earns reputation and other benefits.

New cards improve your deck over time, giving you stronger actions and better resource efficiency. Players in the same location can sometimes provide limited assistance, creating temporary partnerships without turning the game cooperative.

Vicious provides the finale. The game ends when he is ultimately captured or escapes, at which point reputation determines which bounty hunter made the biggest name for themselves.
