HacKClaD mixes competitive deck-building with tactical movement on a shared battlefield. Each of the 1–4 players controls a Witch with her own Affinity, abilities, and Skill cards, while everyone fights the same enormous Clad. You are trying to hurt the monster, improve your deck, collect Magic Shards, and position yourself for the next attack without making life too easy for the other Witches.
A Deck-Builder Where Position Actually Matters
The big difference from a conventional deck-builder is that your cards do not operate in a vacuum. Where your Witch is standing affects what she can hit, what can hit her, and which opportunities she can exploit.
The Clad also has its own behavior. You can often see what it is preparing to do next, which turns the fight into a timing puzzle: get into the useful space now, but make sure it is not about to become a terrible space one card later.
How the Game Works
Each Witch begins with a personal Skill deck and a distinct Affinity. Cards provide movement, attacks, defenses, resource effects, and character-specific abilities. Magic Shards earned during the battle can be used to strengthen your deck with new Skills.
The Clad acts through its own cards and movement rules. Its attacks, reactions, and changing form continually alter the 5×5 arena, so players have to account for both the monster and one another when choosing where to move.
Movement can also set up Chain Attacks and other positional effects. A strong turn is often less about playing the single biggest card in your hand and more about getting several parts of your Witch's toolkit to line up at once.
Solo play uses the same Clad system, while multiplayer turns the shared boss fight into a competitive scramble for the most valuable opportunities and Magic Shards.
Why You’ll Love It
- Deck-building decisions immediately affect what you can do on the arena board.
- Each Witch has her own Skill cards, Affinity, and approach to the fight.
- The Clad behaves like a tactical opponent rather than a passive pile of health.
- Telegraphed enemy actions reward planning and positioning.
- Works as both a solo tactical puzzle and a competitive multiplayer boss battle.
