Questline

Questline is a fast-playing fantasy card game for 1–6 players that combines open drafting, hand management, real-time play, and storytelling in the World of Ulos. Everyone simultaneously builds a seven-card sequence representing their hero's adventure, grabbing useful cards, dumping bad ones, watching neighboring discards, and deciding when their story is good enough to lock in. The rules are approachable, but the race between improving your hand and finishing before your opponents turns a simple drafting puzzle into a wonderfully frantic little adventure.

Your Epic Tale Has Seven Cards. Choose Wisely.

Questline gives you a heroic problem every gamer understands: your plan would be perfect if everyone else would stop taking the cards you need.

There are no traditional turns. While you search for the missing chapter of your adventure, somebody else may be grabbing the perfect card from a discard pile, completing their sequence, and reaching for a valuable Epilogue. Move too slowly and the best bonuses disappear. Move too quickly and a gap in your sequence can tear apart the story you thought was finished.

For fans of quick fantasy games with drafting, hand optimization, simultaneous play, and a little storytelling personality, Questline packs a surprising amount of decision-making into a short session.

And once the scoring is finished, your mechanically optimized collection of cards becomes an actual tale to read aloud. Whether it sounds like an epic legend or the world's least competent adventuring party is largely up to you.

How the Game Works

Each player begins with a Class and works toward a final Questline containing seven sequential Adventure cards. Cards provide story elements, terrain symbols, scoring effects, shortcuts, and other ways to make your finished adventure more valuable.

Everyone plays at the same time. You can draw new cards, discard cards face up, reclaim cards you previously discarded, or snatch useful cards discarded by a neighboring player. That shared flow of information makes the game interactive even though everyone is solving a personal hand-management puzzle.

Your cards need to form a valid numerical sequence, but pure order is not enough. Compatible symbols and effects can generate additional Reputation, so the strongest Questline usually requires both structure and synergy.

When you think your adventure is ready, you lock it in. Earlier players get access to stronger Epilogue bonuses, creating a constant temptation to finish now rather than chase one more perfect card. After everyone finishes, incomplete sequences are penalized, Reputation is totaled, and players can tell the wonderfully improbable stories their cards created.

Why You’ll Love It

• Real-time play means almost no downtime, even with a full table.
• Seven-card sequencing creates an easy-to-understand but satisfying hand puzzle.
• Open discards make opponents relevant without turning the game mean.
• Card synergies reward players who look beyond simply filling numerical gaps.
• Racing for better Epilogues creates genuine tension over when to stop improving your hand.
• The World of Ulos setting connects naturally with fans of Roll Player and other Thunderworks fantasy games.
• Storytelling emerges from gameplay rather than requiring players to perform or improvise during the game.
• Solo support and a wide 1–6 player range make it unusually flexible for a compact card game.
