Ryozen: Essential Edition is a 2–4 player fantasy worker-placement game where animal clans compete for the favor of the Phoenix Queen over three rounds. Your Kin are double-sided workers, spaces are contested, and placements can matter twice: once for an immediate Daytime action and again when the Sectors pay out during Nighttime. In the center of it all is a rotating 3D Phoenix Palace that can change which opportunities are available around the board.

Plan for Daytime, Score at Night

Ryozen's worker placement is more interactive than simply finding an empty action space. A worker's orientation matters, Sector capacity matters, and a placement that looks modest now may be setting up the majority or reward you actually care about later.

The Palace adds another moving part. Because it can rotate and change relationships with the surrounding Sectors, a plan that depended on the board staying politely in one configuration may need revision.

How the Game Works

The game lasts three rounds, each divided into Daytime, Nighttime, and Dawn.

During the Day, players place Kin into six Sectors or the central Palace. Each placement resolves an immediate action, allowing clans to gather resources, recruit help, collect cards or tiles, develop influence, and work toward scoring sets.

Kin are double-sided, so the same worker can contribute differently depending on how it is committed. Space in the Sectors is limited, making turn order and opponent intentions important.

At Night, the Sectors provide broader rewards based on the Kin and influence present. Players therefore have to balance immediate action efficiency against the positions they want to hold when the second half of the round resolves.

The rotating Phoenix Palace, Revelation cards, Events, recruited abilities, and modular setup keep those priorities moving through all three rounds.
