Skyward Republic

Skyward Republic is a 2–4 player solarpunk city-building card game where an escalating pile draft feeds an increasingly interconnected tableau of floating buildings, airships, feathered critters, resources, and powerful benefactors. Every round begins with a wonderfully uncomfortable choice: claim a smaller pile while you know exactly what you are getting, or add another card to the draft and stay in the contest for a potentially much richer haul. What you win becomes the machinery of your airborne city, where positioning and card synergies can turn one clever construction into several scoring opportunities at once.

Build Upward. Draft Carefully.

Skyward Republic starts its tension before anyone actually builds anything. Cards accumulate in contested piles, and every time you pass on the current offers you are effectively making the prize sweeter for somebody, possibly yourself.

Taking early gives you control. Waiting can give you quantity. Waiting too long can give you several cards that have absolutely nothing to do with the beautiful engine you were planning five minutes ago.

Once those cards reach your sector, the puzzle shifts. Buildings interact across your growing tableau, vehicles and critters create connections, and Benefactors reward players who recognize useful patterns early enough to claim them before a rival does.

How the Game Works

At the beginning of the drafting phase, cards are divided among growing piles. On your opportunity to choose, you may claim an available pile or add one of your unrevealed cards to a pile and remain in the draft. Players who wait generally have access to larger piles, but with increasingly uncertain contents.

After drafting, spend resources to construct cards in your personal sky-city tableau. Buildings provide interconnected abilities and scoring opportunities, while airships and feathered creatures can move through the city and create additional relationships between cards.

Benefactors provide another race. Meeting their requirements before your rivals can earn victory points and useful special abilities, rewarding players who build toward recognizable goals rather than simply collecting whatever looks individually efficient.

When a player constructs their eighth Building, the end of the game is triggered. Final bonuses, leftover resources, Benefactors, and the scoring relationships throughout each city determine which sector becomes the pride of the Skyward Republic.
