Spiky Go

Spiky Go! is a fast 2–4 player family game of simultaneous choices, animal collecting, and trying to figure out which farmyard creature everyone else is about to chase. Each round reveals pigs, cows, and horses, then everybody shouts “SPI...KY...GO!” and throws a hand signal at the same time. Choose an animal nobody else picked and the cards may be yours. Match another player and suddenly that escaped livestock has another opportunity to make a run for it. Win animal meeples, place them in your barn, and be the first to complete two lines.

Rock-Paper-Scissors, Except the Pig Is Escaping

Spiky Go! is wonderfully immediate. Everyone can see which animals are available. Everyone knows which one looks most valuable. And everyone knows that choosing the obvious animal becomes a much worse idea if somebody else reaches exactly the same conclusion.

That turns a children's-game-simple hand signal into a little exercise in reading the room. Do you chase the large group of cows everyone wants, settle for the lonely pig nobody seems interested in, or trust Spiky to rescue you from a tie?

How the Game Works

Animal cards are revealed in the center of the table. Each animal type has its own hand signal, and all players simultaneously choose which animal they want to pursue.

If you are the only player showing a particular signal, you collect the corresponding animal cards. When multiple players choose the same animal, they may have to divide the cards or risk losing the opportunity entirely. Spiky can break the right kind of tie and turn a contested group into an unexpectedly large haul.

At the end of the round, compare the animals everyone collected. Players who performed best in the different animal types earn matching meeples for their barns. Arrange those animals carefully because victory is spatial as well as numerical: the first player to complete two lines of animals in their barn wins.
