Star Wars: Bounty Hunters

Star Wars: Bounty Hunters is a fast 2–6 player drafting game about assembling enough hunters and droids to capture targets from across the Star Wars galaxy. Everyone plays simultaneously, choosing from Target, Hunter, Contract, and Jawa Market cards, then passing the rest of their hand onward. A captured bounty is worth points, but hiring the people who bring them in costs credits, so the biggest-looking hunting operation is not automatically the most profitable one.

Twenty Minutes of Questionable Employment

The game keeps the decisions light and the turns nearly nonexistent. Everybody is choosing, playing, selling, and passing cards at the same time.

The interesting part is deciding what a card is worth to you right now. A Hunter might help overpower a valuable Target. A Contract might make certain captures much more profitable. A Jawa crate or droid could fit another scoring plan. Or you can sell a card because Boba Fett still apparently expects to be paid.

How the Game Works

Each player begins with four cards. Choose one card from your hand, play or sell a card, then pass the remaining hand to the player on your left. New cards are continually drafted from four categories.

Targets have defense values. Hunters and droids provide attack values, and matching or exceeding a Target's defenses lets you capture that bounty.

Contracts provide bonus points for fulfilling particular conditions, while the Jawa Market offers droids and crates that support captures or end-game scoring. Credits pay for hired Hunters and therefore reduce your final profit if you spend too freely.

When the first player captures four Targets, bonuses are awarded and the final two turns begin. Add captured Target points, Contracts, and Jawa purchases, subtract hiring costs, and see who actually ran the galaxy's best bounty-hunting business.
